African Clothing and Food
African women from the 1890s wore wraps around their bodies and head to keep cool in the hot weather. They ate live stock they raised and grew large farms. Their diet is heavily meat based and they have a lot of barbecues. Boerewors, or spicy sausages are often made at the barbecues. Mielies, maize, or mielie-meal is often served as porridge, or pearl millet. They enjoy pastries such as koeksisters and desserts such as melktert, or milk tart.
